European Studies Minor

Minor Requirements

A minor in European Studies consists of six courses:

Foundation Course

Language and Culture
Complete at least two courses taught in one of the following language categories:

Courses Taken Outside of Bates

Study Abroad

Studying abroad in Europe is encouraged, but not required, to complete the minor. Students may count for the minor up to two courses taken as part of a study abroad program, subject to approval by the program committee.

Pass/Fail

Students may take a maximum of one elective below the 300-level as Pass/Fail.

Restricted Declarations

Students who have declared the European Studies minor may not declare the following:

  • European Studies major

Other Considerations

Double-Dipping

Students may count up to two courses taken for another major or minor toward the European Studies minor.
