Africana Minor
A minor in Africana allows students to develop a basic foundation in the field and to complement the perspective and modes of analysis offered in their major area of study.
Minor Requirements
The minor in Africana requires six courses. Courses taken for the minor must include:

Courses Taken Outside of Bates
Students may apply two courses taken away from Bates to fulfill the requirements for the Africana minor. Students should consult with the chair of Africana for approval of the courses.
Pass/Fail
Pass/Fail grading may not be elected for courses applied toward the minor.
Restricted Declarations
Students who declare the Africana minor may not declare the following:
- Africana major
